JANUARY 2007Hinton is a vibrant economic, social and cultural community of close to 10,000 residents nestled in the picturesque Athabasca Valley, on Highway 16, twenty minutes from the Jasper National Park gates and three hours west of Edmonton. The majestic wilderness of the Rocky Mountains and eastern foothills surround our community. Hinton United Church is an open, alive, Christian community that strives to live out its faith. Our mission is to nurture ourselves and others in that faith and to reach out to the community and the world in effective and life-ways.
We are currently seeking a half-time (.5) ordained or commissioned minister to work with the congregation of approximately 60 families to live our mission. Supported by a committed congregation, strong lay pastoral support and excellent facilities we wish to work with a minister to strengthen and grow.
Initial emphasis is to provide strong leadership in the areas of Sunday Worship, Christian Education (Sunday School, Youth Group and Bible study) and Pastoral Care and Counselling. We hope that as the congregation grows and prospers that the position's ministerial scope and time commitment can be increased.
